Cooke City via Colter Pass to the Long Lake gate is not maintained for wheeled vehicle travel.

The shopping in Town Center is really fun! Great couple of shops for girls (Hiking in Heels, The Root), and some really great outfitter stores (Grizzly Outfitters well equipped with a wide variety of outdoor gear and fun things for girls…Patagonia dresses, shirts, cute sandals, purses, girly hiking backpacks). Also bike rentals from Grizzly Outfitters are available. DeJavu located in Town Center is one a great antique stores. Also checkout Horse of a Different Color….this is such a cute gift store and had so much to see. Also, the Flower Shop is a gift store as well as a coffee shop.

Hiking

The hikes in Big Sky are well marked and maintained. Three highly recommended hikes are; Ousel Falls, Beehive, and Lava Lake. Hiking maps and a hike trail book is available at in the house. The Chamber of Commerce is also a really good visitors center in Town Center with a very informed staff with lots of information at their fingertips
